It is very well known that the use of a load-holding valve (LHV) in hydraulic system introduces additional energy consumption. This article presented simplified graphical method for analyzing power requirements systems equipped with valves overrunning load control. The helps to understand performance during actuator movement. In addition, it allows visualization influence on overall consumption main parameters (pilot ratio, set pressure) and others such as flow rate, back pressure, force. attractive because, only pressures at three ports relief function curve, sufficient evaluate define ratio an index indicating percentage be used open LHV valve. was applied real cases, particular two types lifting mobile machines. validated following several outdoor tests machines where experimental data were obtained. During tests, both seven different valves. described could beneficial machine manufacturers engaged designing devices when selecting suitable efficiency applications, especially now trend towards electrification reality.
